The Power of Manifesting - Get Your Next Gig

(Published on LinkedIn July 2016)

How can I help you? How can I be of purpose as a professional working woman, a certified life coach, a mama bear, and just a downright loving being? The best way for me to extend love, support, generosity and encouragement is to share what has worked for me. And as you read through this may I ask that you be open to trying something new and open to possibility in your life.

 I think that's fair, don't you?

Most of us have experienced this. You apply for a job. Then you get a call for an interview but it's not really the job you want. You're willing to meet with the employer and possibly settle for the gig if offered. You want to get back to work, you're tired of freelancing, or you just want to get the hell out of your current situation. It's not your dream job, but you may take it even if the pros and cons are pretty even Steven.

Now imagine the job you really want and take a moment, close your eyes and feel the excitement that comes along with getting the call for an interview. It's a different feeling and energy when it's a job you really want. This is THE job! There is a company waiting for you. There is a team waiting for your leadership. There is an office waiting with your name written on it.

Manifesting is a wonderful practice to help achieve our dreams. There is no dream too big or too small. It's not about things when it comes to this practice of receiving, it's about connecting with the feelings that surround your desires. I believe you can manifest what you want in this life if the energy you put behind it sends waves into the universe letting the world know that this is 100% what you want and need to thrive.

Why wouldn't you land a great gig? We tend to forget our true desires as the "shoulds" run over and over again in our heads. The ego starts chattering offering up fear, doubts and sabotaging thoughts on a crudité platter. Ultimately bills need to be paid and families need to be taken care of too. We have responsibilities. We need a paycheck.

When we practice manifesting we are honoring our deepest desires, visioning and fueling the power of possibility. Applying, interviewing, networking all play roles in manifestation.

Here are a couple of great exercises to help you along the way.

Start with gratitude. A good friend told me to write a letter and start it from a place of sincere gratitude. Thank you for granting me ___________.

Imagine it's happening. Write the letter as if the new job or new role is already in motion. You are already there. It's yours right now. In this letter you express what it's like to live and be in that role. I invite you to get into the details, from the amount of time you want your commute to be each day to the salary you hope to earn. Share what you love about your new  job, the company, and the work you are doing. Go as far as sharing the challenges you may face but punctuate those sentiments with phrases like "it's only temporary", "what's the lesson in this", "keep it moving", "don't work from a place of fear" or my favorite "always be the light".

 Keep the vision alive!

Create mantras to power the possibility of a new job. When you read a job description that looks like the perfect fit, go ahead and take a moment and dream about yourself in that role. Think back to your letter and the type of environment and role you are seeking. Keep applying, keep connecting and sharing with others. Talk to people and let them know you need their help to manifest this new job. When you meet with a potential employee let them know what you are looking to manifest in their company. Stand in your power and let them know what makes you a powerhouse.

I learned first hand how manifesting can truly power dreams. On a personal level, I manifested my new apartment last summer. It's perfect in my eyes. I forgot I had written a letter until a month or so after I moved in when I found the letter in a ratty notebook. It was the little things that really mattered to me like bright, natural light and peace. I knew that a lot of natural light would brighten my mood and make me feel good. It was quiet. No more noisy neighbors upstairs walking in heels above me or traffic going crosstown on a busy Manhattan street. I got everything I asked for and more. It didn't come exactly how I saw it packaged and yet it came with so much more.

And even more recent, I found a letter I wrote about becoming a certified professional coach. I was living my purpose, helping all of you connect to what makes you powerful in that letter. And here I am two years later still coaching and creating content to ignite you and encourage your best self to step forward.

It's not fluff, and it’s not silly to daydream, ever! Mantras, visioning and your manifestos are all powerful tools to help get you closer to all of the beautiful gifts you deserve.

Rooting for you,

Tanya
